The Discipleship Journey at Grace
MATTHEW 28:19–20
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples. Discipleship has been part of Grace’s DNA since its founding, and it remains central to the student experience. Our goal is to help students grow as disciples of Christ and develop a personal ministry DNA that equips them to teach, lead, and model the love of Christ to others.

The Great Partnership
In the classroom, sharpen your mind through great theology. In Discipleship Groups, learn in community how to live out that theology in everyday life. “If you love me, keep my commandments.” — John 14:15
A Pathway to Effective Disciple-Making Ministry
Students experience a simple, reproducible approach to connection, spiritual growth, and disciple-making leadership. In ministry, you cannot reproduce what you have not experienced. At the end of your program at Grace, you will experientially know how to make disciples.
1. Experience Discipleship
Grow in community through Student Discipleship Groups (SDGs) and Spiritual Formation Groups (SF). SDGs help students grow together with other Christ-followers, while SF groups help students develop spiritual disciplines that position them to experience the presence and power of Christ.
2. Train as a Disciple-Maker
Move from being a group participant to receiving practical training as a disciple-making leader.
3. Gain confidence as a Student Discipleship Group
After training, students are invited to lead a Student Discipleship Group, gaining experience and confidence as leaders.
4. Expand your influence by leading in your Local Church
After a season of leading Grace Groups, leaders can be released to organize and lead Discipleship Groups in local church settings.
5. Become an expert with the Discipleship Internship
Students called to lead a discipleship ministry can apply for Grace’s paid Discipleship Internship.
6. Strengthen Your Discipleship Ministry Through Academic Study
Required and elective courses deepen students’ understanding of the theology, principles, and practices of effective disciple-making and church leadership.

Join a Student Discipleship Group!
Students in our English, Spanish, Korean, Nepali, and other language groups—across undergraduate and graduate programs—participate in Discipleship Groups during designated discipleship modules.
